It's hard to imagine a future landfill 100 metres from a wild river, overlooking it, and in the middle of a protected site...

Yet this Cantonal project is a big threat to the region as a whole: a gigantic landfill project that could pollute the Versoix river and surrounding area, which is a recognised site of natural and historic interest protected by a multitude of legislative statutes.

Fortunately, there are alternatives. Let us act now to put a stop to this insane project.

Act now

The magnificent landscape of the "Tattes de Bogis" could soon look like this photomontage!

Where would the landfill be located?

And in the midst of this flows a river...

Known as the Versoix (in Switzerland) and the Divonne (in France) this river has its source on the upper slopes of Divonne-les-Bains, in the Pays de Gex. It then flows through the cantons of Vaud and Geneva, ending its course in Lake Geneva. Due to its prime location, the river provides a link, uniting all these areas and the many riverside residents and walkers who have enjoyed its magnificent banks over many years.

"A river for the mountains and plains, a living link between the Jura mountains and the lake; a link between the hedged farmland, woods and villages it flows through, the Versoix, with its many faces, reflects the diversity of our regional identity and the richness of our natural environment. This diversity is underlined by the commitment of all the communities it flows through, who are determined to make the Versoix the hallmark of our region's quality of life." Editorial in the Versoix fact sheet published in 2001 by the Canton of Geneva.
